Been following Highview and LAES for about 10yrs now. I really do hope it's viable for medium to long term energy storage. Their big selling point was that most of the kit was off-the-shelf from the chemical industry, and of course energy can be increased just by adding more storage, without the need to increase the power side costs.
I'm tempted to assume (is that safe?) that they will see a decent amount of cycling given the issues in transporting all of the Scottish RE generation at times. Just what the doctor ordered.
