So I make those on the Full Fat version of the PV FIT generation tariff from April 2025 at 74.36p / kWh up from the current 71.85p / kWh.

+ generation payment + offsetting leccy = £ 1 + /kwh tax free.

My PV ROR is now less than 2yrs.

I have to smile when i think of all discussions and calculations in 2011 on another site. So much it will never pay when in fact everybody should have been rushing to the bank and fitting as much PV as they could.

Yep and still over a decade to go on our contracts for those who got in during the final months of the full fat gold rush.

I still remember having a BBQ day at Nowty Towers back in 2011 and several folk were making jokes about them.
Who's laughing now comes to mind.

My FIT system cost me north of £11k and i remember it stretched us very tight to afford it, but i said to the mrs that the rpi linked 25 year deal would be a right good money spinner, and boy has it been.
Have not added up the total returns from it since 2011, but imagine, all told, its well on its way to paying for itself around 4 times over by now.

I'm hoping the increased efficiency will give the FIT percentage a boost, existing panels say 14.6%, potential new panels 23.9%.

sorry (from the outside) I thought FIT export amounts (assumed kWh) were frozen forever, but you could upgrade, then use, store and maybe even export more on another tariff, but your FIT payments for that initial amount were set in stone.

I'm intending to fit 5kW of panels in the space of the existing ones (3.87kW) and will get paid the FITs on 3.87kW of the 5kW system but the improved efficiency should up the returns from the FIT payments.

AE, as far as FIT is concerned only the unit £ rates (generation and deemed export) are fixed. The monies you earn from the payments are totally relative to the power generated by the FIT system on your roof. So, if you change (upgrade) the panels or inverter to more % efficent equipment then your payments will rise. All depending on the levels of sunshine being the same of course. More sun = more payments from the higher rates.
