We’ll, this sucks!

Post by SafetyThird »

After our prices increased by 62% last November, I just received an email with the following increases from Next month from Good Energy.

Electricity standing charge 47.74 To 113
Day Rate: 28.94 to 44.02
Night Rate: 18.49 to 34.47

Glad the batteries are delivered this week. Now, can I get on an EV tariff without actually having an EV?
6kw PV (24 x REC Solar AS REC 250PE)
Clausius 5-25kw GSHP
Luxpower Squirrel Pod
Pylontech 21kwh
Eddi Diverter
250l hot water tank with 2 immersions
2 x Woodwarm stoves
7 acres of old coppice woodland
Ripple Kirk Hill 3.8kw
Ripple Derril Water 3.963 kW

That seems to be way above the cap rate. My peak is cheaper than your off peak and we are in one of the most expensive regions of the country.

I would query those prices and consider changing. Utility warehouse is as reasonable as they come for split rate atm.

Looks like I’m in for a shock when my 5p night, 15p day, tariff ends!
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

SafetyThird, those rates look ridiculous - certainly worth talking to them in the first instance. Does say on their opening quote page, though, “it’s important to be aware that as a genuinely green supplier actively investing in renewables, our standard variable tariff is exempt from the energy price cap” - as you’re obviously seeing.

I’d have a chat with Octopus in the first instance - at least you could get a £50 referral from someone on here ;)

Standing charge is pence per day
Day/night rates are pence per KWh

I’m away on holiday for a week but will query with them when I get home.

I remember seeing an email from them that said they were a "special supplier" due to the green credentials and as such were not restricted by the price cap.

I could be wrong though (as it is from memory)
