Mch update for the system, and it's all good news.
Bill for Mch looks to be about £45*. That includes about £15 in standing charges, and about 120kWh of night rate used to charge the BEV's, when PV couldn't cope. Fingers crossed April will just be SC's, plus perhaps £6 for gas, and a few quid for leccy that sneaks in, so maybe less than £30 pm till Oct?
Bathroom was overhauled in Mch. Bit worn out after 20yrs, plus a very, very slow leak had steadily eaten through most of a floor joist. Good news is we replaced the GCH rad with an electric rad
suggested by Adokforme, and while the floor was up, we ran a 6mm cable from a spare slot in the garage CU through to the room where the GCH boiler is. So all set for when we get a HW tank.
Also, wifey has come round to getting a single leccy oven, to replace the double gas, which I think means we can just use the 13A socket that's already there. Lots of people saying great things about air-fryers, so between them that should work fine.
So ..... dare I say we are ready to go leccy-only this year. Never expected that when I started messing around last year.
Going back a bit, I explained the issues with raising the temp upstairs a bit, where it was a tad too cold. The simplest solution was to just dial up the two A2A units by a degree, and let more heat travel upstairs. Does mean the living room is now 20C to 20.5C, whereas before it was about 0.5C lower, but we've adjusted. My concern was that this was just a temporary solution as we are in our 50's, so in the future we will want more heat upstairs ..... but my brain finally caught up, and realised we will also want more heat downstairs, so should be scale, I hope.
Teeny disappointment - We now consume about 8,000kWh's pa. With oven and DHW on leccy, I estimate reaching about 9k. Our PV should generate about 7k pa, so I invested in Ripple Whitelaw Brae for 3,000kWh's, to meet our home energy needs (general leccy, space heating, cooking, DHW and transport), but looks like that's not happening now. I'm already invested in about another 20 small RE schemes around the UK, but was keen to have one linked to my bill, just for the craic. Oh well.
*Regarding bills, and including current SC's and gas, it looks like they should roughly be:
£100pm Nov - Feb
£45pm Mch & Oct
£30pm Apr - Sep
Total estimate ~ £670
Removing gas should add about £35 for 500kWh of cheap rate leccy (plus another 500kWh from PV), but save about £15pm, so a net reduction to ~£525pa.
[This ignores any FiT income and export payments.]
