This must be a co-incidence as only two windows done so far.

SWMBO brought a cuppa up to bedroom this morning and said it's awful hot. It was 19.2 degs in the bedroom. All we did were the two windows downstairs and a bit of insulation. The ashp thermostat had not been adjusted (18.5) Makes me wonder though?

I guess once its all done the ashp will have to relearn? I am hoping to get down to 0.2 heat curve setting before the ashp home heating side is shutdown for Summer.

Front lounge (North) big window and small kitchen window (South) are being changed out today.

Woke this morning and realised that i should be fitting hung net pockets for earthwool insulation below the upstairs dormer window cills. They are deep cills and are about 1mtr sqr between them. Up to now the cold air in the vented loft has been circulating behind them pulling them down to outdoor temps. We can do better than that? :D

SWMBO says she has netting.

Yesterday I bought 2 100ltr bags of Vermiculite and 1 roll of 100mm insulation roll. I anticipate that it will all disappear into the build fabric over the coming week.

I'll leave this up as a reference once it's all in. This is the last 24hrs at 08.30hrs 25/03/25 with two 3g windows installed.

Huge hole in side of house! Can't get over the size of this window. Curtains hid a lot!

Very happy with the upstairs dormer cill fill. Such a simple thing yet 24/7 benefits for decades. 200mm deep too. :D

I'm getting our last windows done as well. The rats have free entry through the frame they chewed threw :< I might have missed, did you post the u-values of the windows you having installed?

My first quote back resulted in a big gulp compared to a few years ago. Did you have negotiating room with the company you went with?

0.6 to 0.8 Uw Andy depending on the spec. KSM glazing in Newmacher, ask to speak to Kenny. The windows come from Window supply company in Altens, ask to speak to Shannon. I heartily recommend both companies.

Do you reckon you were losing more heat through the frames or through the glass units?

Equally rubbish but if I had to pick one I'd say frames were colder for raw temperature but the surface area that the glass covers bled more heat.

Front lounge window is in. It's not getting any smaller!

I am currently digging a hole for a kingpost & French drain. Vanport going in with panels on. That's the very last of it. :D

For anyone thinking on 3G. My rationale for the style was that tilt and turn can be blown off seal and are a complex hinge. The less openers the better and top hung casements minimise hinge load while being blow on. Nice to have a vertical bar gone too.
