You'd think so, but I suspect not.

Positive & upbeat!!  8-)

I agree with you in both regards. Hoping it plays out, it is one less load on swmbo. I'd like that. The installers will keep me updated on any delivery progress. I can still see the scenario unfolding when something goes wrong on this dual trapezoidal fast track order and we revert to the original factory for a single trapezoidal to match the surviving unit.

I did give them that option....

Blinds were being delivered yesterday.... A tiny wee box with the remote control inside showed up flying solo. Blinds are still in the ether!

This glazing and associated swag is truly a PITA.

All good?

Not quite, I did post an update in the install thread, not all my issues were fully addressed, but it's done well enough that I will just sort the minor bits out myself, shouldn't have to, but it's just less hassle.

Turning away from the trapezoidal glazing fiasco to happier thoughts.

We are now well into the days of home solar gain although we still have condensation on the outer panes of the upgraded glazing units early morning. With the replacement of the front door we have removed the last leaky pathway to the outside world. The remaining 2g is decent enough for it's remainder time.

The amazing (to me) thing is that the HP is only burning 3.3kWh of power on a best day. I find this to be almost unfathomable.

The power to run a rapid boil kettle for just over an hour is instead heating our entire home and meeting our hot water needs. ASHP Heat Curve is now set at 0.1, as low as it will go. Even though I'm living it I find it hard to accept.

I had hoped to possibly dip in under 10MWh electricity for the whole year including EV (Zero gas) but it looks like I won't get a clean count this year as there is some stack export I can't split away from the total count as it's mixed in with solar export. I think I'll try for it next year and note down accurate figures to work from at year end?

Not bad though and will only improve as we continue the upgrades. :D

Happy days, the five electric blinds for the non trapezoidal windows arrived at 16.30hrs. Slowly, slowly, catchy monkey. :D

Can fit one in daughterly's room tomorrow 🤔, that room will then be complete.

Tomorrow of course became this evening!

It hit me again that these electric blinds really are quality bits of kit.

I may have had lowish expectations (don't know why).

Yet,

No chains to rattle in breeze, no brackets, they disappear to view, quiet motor, good simple software, quality material. Price is absolutely excellent.

Earrings to go with the necklace type deal.

Electric motors and twist to go option. That's the ticket.

Weather has been slip sliding a little up here. So much so that I battened down the hatches about 3pm. That was just before the sun broke through of course.

Up to bed at 22.00hrs and the owl says 21.8 degs. It is well insulated up here so a decent test for ventilation via the new 3G top hung windows.

Please note the fan of not plugged in yet.

I'm not trying to sell anyone towards 3G but I am leaving for posterity the significant benefit of top hung over tilt&turn windows for Xventilation. We've got breezes wafting through the home that have never been apparent before now. :xl:

I am aware that it is the end of May and we should be self propelled in RE heating via solar gain. Yet anyone who lives at this lattitude will know the weather can turn quickly. I have (3G sales now) noticed a big difference in being able to lock in solar gains via closed 3G units or ventilate quickly via the air deflector type top hung 3G units.

Logic should take me to a mhvr unit next but they just don't flick my switch. I'll be sticking with "querlüften" and in Winter
"Stoßlüften".

I've waited a couple of months before saying (a rarity I know) but there really is a palpable difference, incomplete though the 3G system currently is. We are living in a much improved environment.

Edit 22.30hrs :ugeek:

Close to 23.00hrs edit

All the way down to 18.9 degs within 30 mins in the main bedroom. Will have to learn this new balance between insulation/sealed environment and heat gain.

Nearly there with the velux ventilation bars open on the 3 upstairs Velux windows overnight provide a temp/bird sound balance that is acceptable for the moment.

The home is acting far more like a heat storage battery. It is significantly at a more settled constant level. That level is at around 19 degs. ASHP has been on HW duty only for at least a month buy tbh I've not tracked it although the thermo is set for 18 degs. As a result of HW only on ASHP I can see we achieve a HW cop of around 3.6.

I should have kept my mouth closed. 11 degs, raining, dank... :(

Gave me the chance though to run up the home heating side of the ASHP.

Looks like the HW side can run up to 3.5 COP. Home heating can just see North of 7.1COP. Heat Curve is set at 0.15, 0.1 was not doing anything. I'll leave it running today and see what the end result is. :D
