There's not a single trolley in existence that would make it easier to move into place. It is however very easy to move, we have granite tiles, so we just put a blanket under it, and it then slides very easy, that's also how we moved the uniTower into place.

The problem is one of physical dimensions, its 2010mm tall, which is taller than the door opening, so has to be tipped over at angle, then stood up once through.

The width is exactly 600mm, which will fit through the doorway, but then you have to rotate it through 90 degrees to get it into the gap, which wasn't an issue before, but is now.

If you rotate it before moving it through the door, then it is wider than the opening, depth front to back is about 672mm and the maximum width of the door opening is 668mm, hence I took the doors off, which means it will fit through when turned the correct way to slide back into the gap.

It may turn if I took the washing machine out, as that sticks out about 50mm more than the worktop.

As you know the boiler was removed in mid April, the gas hob last July, last May we spent £27.70 (324 kWh) on gas for the hot water and the gas hob (heating - see note below), this may we've used 102 kWh for the ASHP (just hot water + a little testing) and 10 kWh for the induction hob, that's £7.84 for both.

I'm amazed at how little electric the induction hob uses, I really thought it would be more.

May electric stats:

Generation: 2020 kWh
Imported: 1082 kWh at an average of 7.08p + SC
Exported: 2095 kWh
Consumption: 1007 kWh (including home EV charging)

It does look likely that we did have some heating on in May last year, looking at June we spent £18.61 (away on holiday for a week) and July was £23.24, so that does suggest the heating came on in May. Gas hob was removed 22 July.

The induction hob is a bit of a magic trick. They run incredibly efficiently. My personal favourite aspect of them is no heating of the room. I remember how hot it would become with a even just a couple of gas rings on.

I have taken to batch cooking our pasta sauce or curry out in the RV as the 390W twin panel set up can easily cope with an induction hob. Just one more way that they are excellent. Last time out a few days ago it was a 5hr cook in changing weather and the battery recovered to almost full within 20 mins.

I'm glad your ashp is at the testing and use stage. Well done for the perseverance and well done for breaking free of gas reliance.

A gas hob in a van seems to me like a very bad idea! Not just the unwanted excess heat but also the huge amounts of water vapour, NOx, CO2, etc.

Induction has none of that!

Stinsy, Joe's reply very clearly implied he had an induction hob in the van, unless you're talking about vans in general.

I've actually got both, plus a gas oven, grill and a small electric oven for sausage rolls, croissants etc.

We've also got twin hob portable gas cooker running on cartridges and also a single burner camping stove and a 700W kettle, oh aye and a toaster. :D There will always be breakfast. Better check if we did get a small airfryer, meant to.

The game is of course to minimise gas use. I'll be having a look soon to see how easy it is to split the feed to the fridge to run it off solar through the day. Apparently it pulls about 100W.

In fact I'll look now. Slabs can wait.

I was agreeing with him that induction>gas and adding that there are reasons beyond excess heat…
