But old Joeboy still needs his tails upgrading too, but I'd give it a go armed with a IR temp monitor.

Or the old test of, if the tails are too hot to touch its too much. ;)
Fully intending too. I'll have a go tonight :)
Looking out for another single 850W as I have a nice spot in front living room at side of bookcase out of any visual.
Nowty, what temp did you get up to on your incoming leads back in the day?

16.5kW peak, 69A. Jings, need a 7.4 kW EV charger running ASAP! :) cold here in the garage tonight 13 degs on the cables. That will take it to a peak of 90A once installed so room for another couple of SH's. Then it's job done.

The cable is probably rated for 90℃ but I’d aim to keep it below 60℃ If I were you.
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

I seem to remember Nowty being up at 80 deg C, might be wrong. One advantage of a 0 deg garage for a test run! 16.8kW, bang on 70A. :) Everything is on even charging the mobile phone powrbank!

I think there is generally two types of cable standards, the general is around 70 degrees and some special cable is around 90 degrees so I don't want to go above 70 degrees but with a degree of headroom, I agree with Stinsy and 60 degrees is enough. 70 degrees will burn human skin if you hold it long enough, so that's why I say if its not too hot to hold its probably ok, but if its too hot to hold its too much.

I think the max temp of my cut out fuse holder was around 65 degrees at 18kW or 19 kW for a constant 2 to 3 hours so I was thinking it was probably about 70 degrees internally. My tails are only 16mm but are very short, about 30cm or 40cm which should be ok for 80A but I am having mine upgraded to 25mm too. The second EV, the winter home battery and storage heater charging to avoid the gas is making the upgrade a must do.

Cheers Nowty, at the moment the tails are sub 20 deg after 1.5 hrs and the load has dropped back to 13.5kW. Essentially, EV, HWT, HB's & SH's. Oh aye and a couple of dehumidifiers. :) Is there a bill? Must remember, NOT Agile. :)
All this has swept in nicely as a dummy run for WT1 output.

At that load I would hardly feel any warmth from my cables.

I still have just over 30 mins for my cheap slot to start. No EV charging tonight so I will be around that load tonight myself.

Nice one. Non linear living, Is the way forward. I've just been running about in the nuddy to find another hive plug. Schedule set so heating element kicks in AM. See if we can shut down a section of that upper floor gas 🔥 from tomorrow with a little battery charge.. I am gobsmacked at the gas kill here. I knew in the abstract that I'd lined it all up. Doesn't quite set oneself up for that sort of drop on paper.

And carbon intensity of the grid is really low at the moment, gas at only 10% grid generation so very green of us too.
