I didn’t know HP washing machines were a thing?!Joeboy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 3:45 pm Happy days on a couple of levels. Got a confirmed date for stage 2 of the 3g installation. 6th May for four days. Happy with that as I have to nip over to Ireland. Had to nip at their heels a wee bit to get locked in but they did come through.
Also had our brand spank first ever HP washing machine arrive and hooked up. They fairly make some weird noises and wash different? I think it's smashing!
Hoping this is on the new energy efficiency scale as discussed with Nowty a couple of years back?
Surely only a madman would be sitting on the toilet seat with a beer enjoying the very obviously difference in tech?![]()
The loudest thing about it so far is the clothes falling down within the drum. This is clever stuff, impressed.
I've been on the tom toms to see if we can find a young couple or someone looking to have an outdoor covered machine. I hope to relife as it's a fully functional machine. Just had a few too many soaks from flood incidents...
Beer never shifted! Well, the level did.![]()
Astonishing bit of kit!

Maybe it's a washer/dryer?
Re: ASHP & triple glazing
No lads, there's a high likelihood I've mixed up.my terms. It is an inverter washing machine.
Over excited!
On the upside, thank goodness for the ability to relife and for Google translate.

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
Our washing machine consistently uses 40kWh or so a month. About £2.80 at 7p/kWh. Not sure a replacement would pay for itself in energy savings.

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
TBH, I was sat mesmerised at the new sequence of sound and movement displayed in that first run. I had no clue to expect any real difference. Yet it took off doing its own funky thang.
Result on second/re lifeing the old washing machine. It was collected the back of 5pm with a literally awe-inspiring amount of smiles and tesselkeur.. We also managed to relife etc the bedside cabinets and wardrobe from t'other bedroom. They were part of fixtures & fittings 15 years back when we bought. Seen a fair few seasons and swmbo decided to spend some of her upcycling project money in a new wardrobe & bedside cabinet. Full dismantle and stack by myself, on they went in moments to a friends Mother who's Grandson did the lifting for her (good lad).

The beauty of this linked chain of trades is that we keep it amongst the people. No taxed money changed hands here in Turkey as the bedroom furniture we bought is essentially factory seconds and in the historical known black money pool.
The washing machine etc given to the community has without asking bought us a swift move or three (or ten) to the head of the yabanci Q for services req'd when we need them.
I've been doing this for years (the giving back) and forget the goodwill it buys us unspoken until we speak to others from the Island who live here. We are incredibly fortunate.

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
Flights booked for Belfast 1st May, taking swmbo and staying at the Europa hotel. Famously touted as the most bombed Hotel in Europe.
I hope breakfast is good.
Relieved that we've got the 3g going in stage 2 on the 6th May (4 day schedule). The question is, will it fit this time? Indeed, will it get to site unbroken and installed the same....
I paid 20% deposit on the 3g and good guys though they most certainly are I'm glad I held back the bulk until completion and swmbo has done her final walk round.
We have two windows, two huge trapezoidal windows, a double doorset and a front door to go.

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
For anyone interested in the figures. With A2A's shutdown, radio, hot plate cooking to avoid gas, tiny bit of TV and the 80ltr HWT we have been running at a consistent 10kWh consumption per day. Washing machine (non HP inverter type) in and run twice yesterday we used 11kWh of power.
That's decent, 0.5kWh per wash cycle? One at 40degs, other at 60degs.
Electricity prices rose 25% this month, first hike since July 24. We are now paying just over 5p per Kwh.
Sadly swmbo doesn't have another wash load ready for me.

My washer uses between 1 and 2 kWh per cycle. In March the washer used 40.61kWk (and the HP tumbler used 61.51kWh).Joeboy wrote: ↑Fri Apr 18, 2025 6:52 am For anyone interested in the figures. Thanks Stinsy, that's good info. Thanks for sharing. I know which way i"ll go when the machine back home breaks.Stinsy wrote: ↑Fri Apr 18, 2025 7:00 amMy washer uses between 1 and 2 kWh per cycle.
