He did say you must use gloves, it sounds very much like CT1, brilliant stuff, but don't get it on your skin, it will be there for ages.

Getting much closer, but still no heating or hot water. Electrician was wiring in the electrics today, including the immersion, but he required a specific RCBO which the local wholesalers didn't have. A branch 20 miles away had one, and I was under the impression someone was collecting it, but that wasn't the case. Had I have known, I would have happily driven over and picked it up. The wife and daughter wasn't impressed, and our other daughter is coming home tonight as well. Commissioning tomorrow morning, hopefully that all goes well :xx:

I'm also a little annoyed with one of the apprentices, I specifically asked him to unclip the cables that run along the wall, and leave them above the pipe brackets, now those cables are sandwiched between the wall and pipe insulation and trapped below one set of brackets. It's the cooker cable, induction hob cable and kitchen ring main, all high power circuits, stuffed behind pipes that could be 65°c They always say plumbers shouldn't be allowed anywhere near electrics :head-bang:

I'm glad it's April as the house isn't too cold, and when the sun comes out we actually get quite a bit of solar gain, coldest part of the house is 18°c and the back door has been open all day until late afternoon.

Snagging list complete before final.payment? All the best with the commissioning today, a true landmark!

We took a few days to get the whole house up to temperature and once there it was amazing. You'll be quicker though as our install was Dec. Looking forward to seeing the photos when we get back home.

I've noticed another problem this morning, the pipes at the rear of the cooker unit stick out too much, and now the cooker unit will not fit back to the wall, so it looks like they will need to regig them, and at the same time hopefully we can get the cables out.

I'm also not sure where the mag filter is, unless there's one built into the uniTower.

It's great you've been there to be 'on it'. I'm sure many homeowners pass it all to the installers and pay the price later.

It's not been a good day, I had to pull out three cables, I felt that was the safest way, and then refit them after the plumbing alterations were done.

They altered the pipes, which meant there was quite a lot of elbows, hopefully they won't be an issue, it is a really restricted for space, so I know its tricky

Image

I think if they'd routed the pipes differently in the utility room, it would have been better, but they didn't they tried to leave existing ones in place.

Image

So they spent most the morning working out how to rearrange the pipes, then they ended up waiting for the electrician to arrive, who had supposedly been called out on an emergency, but someone else let slip that he had a job booked for this morning, and it over ran.

The lead plumber left at 13:00 to go and collect the RCBO from 20 miles away, by the time he got back the electrician had finally arrived. He got the electric's finished pretty quickly, but they could not get the system to work, he spent 2 hours on the phone to Vaillant. Vaillant are now coming out Saturday, appears to be some sort of pressure sensor fault, so no hot water

We still have gaps in the external insulation, despite me mentioning to the lead plumber, and asking the lads if they'd sealed them.

Speaking to the lead plumber he implied that they usually get 5 days, but when there is a bank holiday they have to do it in 4 days, so I think its all been a bit rushed, and the young lads are very green, and overlook things too easily, and don't do things properly.

The "flush" consisted of filling and draining the system, surely it would have been far better to power flush the entire system as it is twenty years old.

The other bad thing that happened today, is that my main computer decided to stop working, seems to be the CPU or motherboard, so I had to resurrect another computer that had a dead PSU, and reconnect the wiring I rerouted.

Sorry to read this Ronski, you are definitely 'in the barrel" the noo. Get your list together and hold the final payment until you are satisfied.

When the lads powerflushed our system it was on for about 6 hours and that was with over 50% of the radiators replaced in the previous days.

Having not done that they've compromised the long term performance and life of your system. I wouldn't be accepting that.

As to learning on the job, fair enough but the company carries that cost in time not you. As to the bank Holiday 4 day. Simply put "who gives a f**k", that's not on you either. Channel your inner Joe, use the phrase "that is unacceptable". It's not on you to please them, it's the other way around.

Yes, I'm certainly getting fed up with it, wishing I'd paid the extra and used the other company now (no guarantee of a better install though).

Did they add any inhibitor to your system?
