You could try spraying conformal coating over the electronics.

I'm guessing the manufacturer of the pump intended airflow to keep the electronics cool.

I think you mean a 1kΩ resister, but anyway the 100Ω resister was the only one I could find but I did have a 1A fuse in the plug it was running from, just in case. ;)

I did say it was a nuclear test of it !
You're right of course...

Anyway you've proved current leaking to earth isn't your problem. Something is drawing too much current, and I think you've eliminated the compressor starting up (trip doesn't coincide) so one of your circulation pumps overheating seems most likely...

Took the failed water pump apart, part of circuit board burnt out.

Cool, it's nice to find a reason for those faults, mind you a short capable of knocking out a 63A MCB causes quite a big splash, surprised not to see a bit more splatter around there, maybe the cinders are the other side of the board?

Sounds like a good idea, plus I could stash a few small silica gel packs in as I have bag of them already.

And probably I should individually fuse each of them with 1 or 3 amp fuses as they are less than 50w max with a soft start.

The workaround is a low tech towel bandana to soak up excess condensation. :D

Image

I'm just glad the heat pump ain't fecked, its been working for 50+ hrs now without issue and the outside temperature is plummeting to near zero but the lounge is still,

Image

And the gas boiler is still off.

Nothing wrong with low tech. God made tupperware tubs and even yoghurt pots along with silica gel bags for just such applications! As you say the main thing is 'Gas to the off position'. :) I wonder how far they will crack on today at the site? Can almost hear the Welsh minister for energy to the DNO. Right Boyo, here's how its going to be...

Just thought I would share these pics I took today as its pretty cold out there and yet its toasty inside my house heated with the heat pump via radiators.
Heat pumps are pretty amazing things and will be running with a COP of about 3.
2kW of leccy in and 6kW of heat out, even using freezing cold water.

Temp of the coolant flow from the evaporator in the heat pump, almost zero degrees and you can see all the condensation on the lower pipe.
Image

Temp of the coolant after its taken its circa 30 second trip though coils of copper microbore beneath the water.
Image

Temp of the water in my radiators after being through the condenser in the heat pump.
