EU energy market reform proposals

Any news worthy story. Good things to watch at the Cinema, Theatre, on TV or have you read a good book lately?

Other countries don’t seem to be as affected by the inflation in electric and gas prices from what I can see.
Or is our energy market just so broken?
I had to use a public charger yesterday, doesnt happen very often thank goodness, but 65p per kWh is 900% more than the convenience of my home charger how can that encourage green energy.
My car is now charging at a free BP pulse charger………
There is though another side to it. RE generation costs haven't risen, but due to market bidding prices, the leccy is being sold for far more.

But, the CfD mechanism reclaims monies when the leccy is sold for more than the CfD strike price (it tops up the price when sold below the strike price), so if we look at the CfD expenditure (as the number of schemes and generation rises), we see a reduction in expenditure the last 2yrs, with several quarters actually being negative (net receipts to the fund).

CfD - Historical Dashboard

So I'd suggest the answer to your question is 'yes', very broken, sadly.

Also, am I right in thinking that public chargers incrue VAT at 20% not 5%?

Looking at my current SVR prices, I pay 20p/kWh E7, and 45p/kWh dayrate :o

Converting them from 5% to 20% is roughly 23p & 51p respectively. Ouch!
