Any news worthy story. Good things to watch at the Cinema, Theatre, on TV or have you read a good book lately?

Thoughts?
Decarbonisation of commercial hydrogen is a major problem in and of itself - H2 is a very useful molecule in thousands of industrial processes - just so long as this green hydrogen isn't then just diverted into pointless exercises like using it for ground transport, or gas grid injection...

Hydrogen is by-and-large a smokescreen used by FF companies to carry on doing what they've always done. I guess they hire some REALLY pretty lobbyists...

Real "green" H2 will be very expensive. But there are some problems for which it is the only zero-carbon option (eg long haul flights, or heavy machinery operating in remote locations). For the most part renewables and batteries are the solution and this H2 bulllshit means that the transition to such is slowed. For example new-build houses are being built with teeny rads, microbore pipes and FF gas boilers "because in 5 or 10 years the boiler will run on hydrogen".

There is certainly a good argument for H2 in the avoidance of curtailing wind and solar when demand is low, but as has been said already the FF industry are understandably trying to hijack it. Having said that what do we do with the oil and gas industries? surely we don't want another Coal industry situation where we just create a wasteland of whole communities and cast many skilled people onto the scrap heap.

I see the "new" GOVT net zero plan adds up to almost nothing, well there's a surprise!
