Axial flux motors

Any news worthy story. Good things to watch at the Cinema, Theatre, on TV or have you read a good book lately?

Looks identical to Hugh Piggott's very efficient wind generator design from a few years ago, just used as a motor instead of the alternator:
25 off 250W Perlight solar panels, installed 2014, with a 6kW PowerOne inverter, about 6,000kWh/year generated
6 off Pylontech US3000C batteries, with a Sofar ME3000SP inverter

I started skipping through it after a bit - there's some decent stuff mixed in with a lot of garbage, to the point it got painful to watch. Axial flux machines have got some nice advantages for automotive (hence Mercedes just buying YASA), but they really don't work well for aerospace.

That machine uses air-cored coils rather than iron-cored, so the power density is pretty low. Iron cores for an axial flux machine require the use of soft magnetic composites, so very much NOT suited to DIY.
