What do we think of these new T-Pylons for the high voltage supergrid?
Sure they're not as tall, but do they look "better"?
Anyway, all 116 are installed.

I think they look pretty good, just hope they last as long as the traditional pylons.

Well if there is a big old life limiting flaw, I cannot help but think the connections for a nuclear plant are not what we want to hear, how have these been tested?
Was this the competition design (seem to be a few these days) I still can't get over the pads they require.

Having seen them, I don’t like them. I know they’re a much neater profile/design, but, to me, they don’t sit right in the landscape.
I know it’s probably me and they’ll be a great success

They certainly look different to the regular lattice towers. I can't make my mind up whether they're "Better".

I like them, integrated VAWTs don't seem to have made it through to final build. There may be a lesson there.

New is new wherever it's placed, sheds. architecture, these new pylons of which none of us have seen many / any of but plenty of the other over decades to form an opinion, the old ones are ugly, brutal, made a lot of linesman ill (cancers) but by the time they too are replaced will be as normal as the generation now in decline, ..maintainance costs & crewing is something I guess the new ones design negates, but being used to ploughing & planting around the old un's I reallly hate those pads in the meantime, till it sinks in & there is some proper context, I guess it makes a good platform (if not covered over) for a team compared to a ploughed field, bliss by comparison I guess?

Actually, when you whizz through the wiki page, the new design is pretty similar to many modern? designs out there, except for the fact that the material is now solid construction, (presumably reinforced concrete) ..there were threads here before on the new design when the pads were first pictured if I recall correctly, (likely more detail too)
