Here we go again - thought this would happen. Although perhaps not another EPR?

Re: New nuclear at Wylfa
The bit that caught my attention, from that report was this:(quote) ”The UK government wants to quadruple nuclear power capacity by up to 25 gigawatts by 2050 with a new fleet of plants” (unquote).
Current nuclear seems to be about 5GW, so quadrupling that would be 20 GW.
The government must be expecting a huge increase in generation if the base load is aimed at 25 GW.

Re: New nuclear at Wylfa
The fact that the new UK Nuclear body is called "Great British Nuclear" and has the same initials as GB News, and has basically the same colour scheme and font design did make me laugh this morning.
Digging further, GBN has invited several nuclear companies to tender for the sites at Wylfa and Oldbury, and they include EDF, GE-Hitachi, but then it seems to mix up large scale plants like EPR with "Small Modular Reactors".

Re: New nuclear at Wylfa
I saw a paper from I think 2021 which suggested a target of 24GW for Nuclear in the UK. I notice that that target still appears: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... r-overview
I don't know how much Nuclear was operating then, but could believe it was 6GW. So tha latest artile could be a journolist using out of date information couple with their normal inaccuracy...
