45 day no coal run about to end

Any news worthy story. Good things to watch at the Cinema, Theatre, on TV or have you read a good book lately?

I think the "increased demand of aircon" is guff - now we know we've lost half of the Norway interconnector, and 4 nuclear generators, that's more likely the truth.

Agreed Dan, hate the spoon fed, lies onna plate we get doled out, the last thing we are given is the truth when it is most needed in order to make people more power vigilant as to excess use.

No coal use here, aircon on (SWMBO is loving it), EV charging and still exporting.

Two coal units on now and ramping up, with some open cycle gas burning now.

And the Norway interconnector looks better at 1.3 GW so almost full power again.

Same here. Air con went on yesterday, first time this year. But for heating, managed to avoid GCH for the whole of April, and beginning of May. Perfect match if you have PV too.

And on again today. Weirdly, I usually struggle at 24C, but now OK to 26C(ish), I assume that's because of long covid, but not sure that's a real plus!

I see the Daily Telegraph has decided to blame high temps and those dreaded solar panels for the coal power start up...

Image

Takes a while until they mention that 'supply was also lower because of depressed wind speeds... and some gas power plants being shut for maintenance'.

I've been hearing this a lot but there is actually another, more usual explanation.

Everyone still alive is getting older. Drink more fluids, stay out of the sun, take things easier.
