As previously disclosed I am (was) a customer of PFP for my gas supply and their website gives a link to OFGEM and what to do / expect as the "Supplier of Last Resort" process has started. One of the things it says you can do is to cancel your direct debit and as I am £300 in credit I did this last night.
This morning I received an email from PFP threatening to move me to a more expensive tariff because I have broken one of their terms and conditions. I know its probably an irrelevant automatic generated thing, but annoying all the same.
PfP and MoneyPlus cease trading (collapse amid record surge in prices)

And now I have received an email that I am joining British Gas. No info on the tariff apart from it will be different, I think they mean much more expensive.

Re: PfP and MoneyPlus cease trading (collapse amid record surge in prices)
The energy market is horrible at the moment. This is what Octopus is offering new customers wanting a 12m fixed deal:
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger
(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

Re: PfP and MoneyPlus cease trading (collapse amid record surge in prices)
Wow, I only signed my father up with Octopus less than 3 months ago on a 2 year fixed deal with leccy at 18.1p / kWh and gas at 3.25p / kWh.
And interestingly, the Octopus variable rate (non fixed) can still be signed up for gas at 3.3p / kWh.

Re: PfP and MoneyPlus cease trading (collapse amid record surge in prices)
Received another email from British Gas and still no actual info on tariff but they say,
Your price compared with your PFP Energy energy tariff may go up.
They might as well say it WILL go up. Also they told me to respond to PFP's request to put in a final gas reading. But I use so little they refuse to accept it. Think I will just leave it and accept an over the top estimated final reading because that will probably work out cheaper for me anyway.
EDIT - Actually I have managed to find the tariff from their website but they don't make it easy for you.
My gas is rising from 2.99p to 4.169p / kWh and the standing charge from about 14p to 26.123p per day.
On the plus side, might as well use my resistive storage heaters on my 5.5p / kWh Octopus Go Faster. At least it will be less carbon intensive.

Topical for us since we're a couple of weeks away from applying for planning permission to knock our current place down and build a Passivhaus. We used 17 MWh of gas over the past year, PHPP says we should get this to under 1 MWh of electricity for heating and maybe the same again for hot water (details being modelled at the moment. This for a house of nearly twice the size.

Re: PfP and MoneyPlus cease trading (collapse amid record surge in prices)
Have since switched, but it's remarkably hard to find any cheaper deals out there - most new deals on offer are significantly worse, indeed my soon-to-be former supplier is offering higher prices to new customers.
