Any news worthy story. Good things to watch at the Cinema, Theatre, on TV or have you read a good book lately?

Yes that is good news but we need to do that every yr from 2025 to 2030 at least.

Thats a very low price for offshore, never thought it would get below onshore. Wonder what the gov thinks about Sizewell now!

Although i guess that with free energy and capacity factor of say 33% then you need 3GW to equal one power station. Does that mean the correct comparison to gas, coal, nuclear is nearer 3X the CfD price ??

Nope, the CfD price is per MWh, not capacity based, so all factors such as cf's are included in the cost/MWh for comparison. The latest off-shore wind prices are ~£2/MWh cheaper than the round 3 results.

I'd love to see this done each year, but that might be too fast, perhaps half the GW's annually would be better. As I've detailed on the other thread, the off-shore wind generation from this round, plus the last round, plus another in two years for delivery in 2028/29, if it was slightly larger than todays, would in total add ~30% more generation to the UK, taking us up to roughly the 80% target needed to reach 100% (net) low carbon by 2030.

Regarding cf's for off-shore wind, they are not about 33%, the latest (and biggest) are around 50%. The UK fleet average including older and smaller schemes is roughly 42% over the last 12 months, care of Andrew (AZPS):
