French nuclear in trouble

Any news worthy story. Good things to watch at the Cinema, Theatre, on TV or have you read a good book lately?

2GW of export is 2GW of wind that does not need to be curtailed.

Irrelevant.

Wind is not curtailed while fossil fuels are at full-chat. Curtailment is either because the grid is unable to distribute that wind generation or that some stations are required ‘just in case’ of an outage requiring a large restart on the grid. Nothing more.

Wind is usually curtailed because we cannot distribute it from Scotland (where it is generated) to South East England (where it is consumed). This is due to the under-sized and unreliable “Western Link”. Often we are exporting when renewables are low and fossil fuels are cranked up. For example we’re currently burning 1GW of coal and exporting 2GW so you could say that all of the coal-generated electric is being exported so we could turn off the coal, turn down the gas, and stop exporting to France.
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

Except that it was curtailed last night to maintain some security of supply by gas and coal which were turned down as much as they absolutly could whilst allowing for security, without the export, curtailment would have had to be more
