Where have I seen that before. ;)

The biggest takeaway I'd like people to consider that electricity has never been about just production and is always about location and timing.

If you over subsidy something connected to the grid you can end up increasing the system cost for the entire thing.

Has anyone estimated costs to just shove solar panels on every residential (house) roof and add in 10kWh worth of storage in every house? It would make for interesting comparison to these subsidy costs...

I must admit to being interested in the analysis of roof shapes affecting power generation.
Solar PV: 6.4kW solar PV (Eurener MEPV 400W*16)

Which is what solar car ports & house exterior shading is all about, like our stoeps in ZA or verandah's in Oz Porch's in the states etc.. come into play.

I spent eight grand sticking 5kW of panels and 15kWh of batteries in our gaff so if we did 25 million houses we would be looking at 200Bn or about one sixth of our annual GDP, that would give you 125 Gigs of generation and 375GWh of storage.........which is a lot

Apply a few economies of scale and the amount of tax payable by all the good jobs it would create and it looks do- able, it's probably only one and a half HS2s at current costs....

I mean, not every house can take even four panels, but then I think of the rows of terraced housing that have an...azimuth? between -30 and +30 degrees south and each house can take 2 kW of panels and I figure the entire street can essentially reduce grid use by, I dunno, 80% in summer? And then how much does that help with maintenance windows etc that increases the viability of windpower.

It just feels like this sort of subsidy should be considered at the same time as wind and nuclear CfD costings. And there would be the consistent benefit of improved output week by week rather than year by year with the big jobs.

But this gives reources to the great unwashed so no government would consider it.

I see empty roof space and the abomination that is rhe hipped roof. Gables all the way.

Also nowty, where do you keep all that stuff? What don't you have links to regarding renewable energy? Treasury funds?

If the internet and google did not exist I would know next to nothing.
