BIPV for apartment buildings at 18% efficient
Re: BIPV for apartment buildings at 18% efficient
Love the concept, a hard watch though on accents?

Going to give some active cooling to the building in strong sunshine too.
18.7kW PV > 109MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 27MWh generated

105kWh EV storage
60kWh Home battery storage
40kWh Thermal storage
GSHP + A2A HP's
Rain water use > 520 m3

Re: BIPV for apartment buildings at 18% efficient
This must be the maturation of the solar cell printing layer technology that the Musk-rat trumpeted which never came to pass.
What i'd really like to see though is both failed module / damage replacement & fitting costs for when this is more mainstream on regular buildings being discussed, as well as how solar cladding is implemented into weather proofing & insulation of the buildings.
Great video find Stan, thanks.

Re: BIPV for apartment buildings at 18% efficient
Its not, if you watch the video its fairly standard solar cells with busbars, but they simply add an semi transparent covering to it and seem to make them larger without frames. They admit there is a loss of efficiency because of this but they say its circa 18% efficient vs 22% on a standard panel. I do find that claim a bit difficult to believe and would question the reliability of such panels.Mr Gus wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 7:50 am This must be the maturation of the solar cell printing layer technology that the Musk-rat trumpeted which never came to pass.

Re: BIPV for apartment buildings at 18% efficient
Had it on whilst making breakfast for the dogs, but will watch again.
So what is the difference between this and musks also printed solar panels that look like tiles?
(Yes, these are touted as well cladding on the video, but also as roofing solar)
When I saw the video I thought musk will be ordering this type of printing process to cover the most common roofing tile / shingle, likely meaning ordering 6 or so different print layers for his solar? ..what am I missing!?
