Hinkley B closure

Hinkley B has boiled the equivalent of 100 billion kettles.

Over its 46 years it has generated 311 terawatt hours, or 311 billion kilowatt hours, to use the units we see on domestic energy bills.

That's enough to power 100 million homes for a year at average UK usage.
Seems to be up down to the normal standard for a reporter, since when has it taken 3KWh to boil a kettle?

That's so British, "how many kettles worth".

Well spotted, unless the BBC has particularly large capacity kettles. I think someone once calculated a full kettle takes about 250Wh, so 12x, or 1.2t kettles?

That's a lot of tea, and conversations about the weather. ;)
