Just been doing some sums for the additional 6 panels I have arriving soon. They are likely to provide about 1,500kWh per year extra (usable) which at 30p/kWh is worth £450. I think the total cost of installing them is going to be around £2,000, so payback in under 5 years, less if the electricity price goes higher. Very much a no-brainer in the current climate.

£0.3 per kWh now would be very good. Variable tariff is going to be £0.5 from October, possibly £0.7 from January.
Think your payback could be much quicker.

The new cap prices push that up to around £750 pa. Less than 3 years payback. With the predictions for January and April you will probably get half your money back in 12 months!

I think you're right, but most of the energy we'd save would be off-peak usage, as our balance of off-peak to peak consumption over the past year is about 98.5% off-peak, 1.5% peak. This brings the cost saving down a fair bit.
