French nuke output on the rise again

As we all know, a large percentage of the French nuke fleet has been offline this year for many reasons, and has altered the European electricity supply directions quite dramatically. 32 reactors were off this summer.

Today their nuclear output has risen back to 29GW - a figure it has not been at since June.
In January of this year, their nuclear output was nearly 50GW.

EDF plans to have 27 of those 32 back online between now and the end of the year.

That's good news for the UK. France and Europe have been pulling power from us for a few months now, with luck they will return the favour as they used to. France took from us for their "rush" hour, and we reversed it later in the day.

One potential snag is that when France stop buying electricity from us then the profits of the companies selling it to France will dip, and I strongly suspect that may mean another hike in prices. Normally, the principle of supply and demand pricing would cause a drop in demand like this to drop the price, but the bizarre and complex way the UK electricity market works doesn't make that a given at all, may well be that the impact on consumers is the opposite of what might be expected.

Then again, I might just be a miserable and cynical old git that firmly believes that we will always get screwed over by energy companies, whatever happens . . .
