Not sure if this may have been posted elsewhere but In trying to learn more about the costs of various energy generation forms I came across the Utube video of Rosie's this morning and found it very informative, appreciating that it revolved around the energy network down under where the CF for solar is double what it is here. But none the less it appears to cover most of the costs involved in each and puts them into a format I could understand.
There was also a follow up vid broadcast a week later with the guy who did all the number crunching where subsequent audience questions were also tackled. While the first vid was kept to 12 minutes and well worth watching the second was an hour plus, but it did cover a whole raft of variables associated with those various energy forms.

Yep, that's the only thing that I would have commented about the video, if the race was re-run in the UK, I think wind might have won the race.

My only other surprise was how poor Geothermal was.

Does anyone know how the life of PV goes in these really hot places, I was told without active cooling PV deteriorates in sunny places and this could affect the lifetime costs?

If you take a look at the second vid the guy, John Poljak I believe hosts the "Keynumbers" site where you are able to put in your own figure where variables are likely to occur. He actually demonstrates how you can do this, so maybe worth!

This is why id like to see higher mounted panels & planting, air movement, moisture, grazing all affecting the cooling of the panel with heat being dispersed/ reduced whilst offering regeneration to the land / shaded areas for cattle, flora & fauna etc.
