I like the idea, however if its the biggest thing in decades & eu (as well as us are being dicks) then why is the uk government not a big stakeholder in this venture?
And if you look at their wikipedia page, one of the big climate deniers, flogs fuel that props up the iranian regime, modern slavery etc..

We are deluding ourselves that we are breaking away from reliance on FF companies, because they are merely riding a new wave, no actual lessons learnt, just a new face worn by the same flaccid richards.
For shame.

Not too worried who's behind this in the first instance as it gets the floating WT's on the general application radar (hopefully) and increases the potential for deeper national waters to be used so the nimbys cant complain about wind turbines on the horizon spoiling the view from their second holiday homes.
Sadly big oil is always going to try to either jump on the RE band wagon or deny the problem exists, it is after all their existence (profit margin) that they are trying to protect not the environment or the planet or anything else - some big oil actively does both ! For now its good to see some of their money going in the right direction for a change even if its a tiny amount in their coffers. Ultimately though as has been said many times before, if you don't want to be in tow to the man you need to be independent and self sufficient. Most of us lack the space for that tho.

The location gets us a nice bit of wind diversity away from the huge North Sea and Scottish offshore areas.

Deep water options are opened up everywhere within national waters and there's another environmental knock on - fisheries will get a boost from the effective no trawl areas associated with floating wind farms, the structures provide artificial "reef" for schooling fish and nursery areas, the anchor beds and chains prevent trawls so fishing these areas would be long line I presume so more sustainable - similar to static offshore wind turbine sites I guess but with the anchor systems offering more obstacles to fishing to the net (get it
) benefit of the fish.
I wonder if they can sling tidal turbines of the base of these floating units where theres a benefit of reasonable tidal force (less likely in deep water ?)

And/or could they fit some of the wave operated machines on the base for a bit of extra generation?
