Damn those sneaky, dart around alot sea based wind turbines, you just don't know where they will pop up & strike next.

We'd been up at Gothenberg for dry dock works on the vessel. One of the big jobs completed was a replacement bow turret thruster. Multi million pound job. After about 6 weeks of wild runs ashore getting to know the population we set sail back to Norway performing sea trials as we went. Once at our home harbour we were doing DP trials in the fjord. I was just stepping into the shower when I heard this horrendous grinding noise. Got dressed and ran up the corridor as the corridor tilted to starboard alarmingly and thank goodness, stopped and held.
Got out onto back deck and sure as f**k we'd run aground in the shallows. The grinding noise was the brand new turret bow thruster being ripped clean off on the rocks. Q, back to Gothenburg dry dock to replace same (again). The first mate had taken his eye off the ball and the depth sounder. That's all it took, tatties Ower the side. I suspect something similar up North. They sneak up you, those fixed installation W/T's.

Update
Apparently the ship was on autopilot but was way off course.
And also the turbine was back up and generating within 24 hours!
