I have an anecdote about him from back in the 90's in London.

One of my work colleagues told me about his friend who worked in a bakery and Rowen Atkinson walked in and asked for some sausage rolls.

The guy who worked in the bakery just burst out laughing as he could not take him seriously and thought it was the funniest thing he had ever heard.

You want what ?

I just want some sausage rolls please.

No, no, your killing me, say it again, what do you want ?

Look, I just want some sausage rolls please.

Eventually Rowen left very annoyed with no sausage rolls and the server was still rolling on the floor laughing.

I haven't fact checked it either but I thought he made some good points, particularly about the 'fast fashion' issue.

I suspect it's true that keeping my 15 year old Micra doing 5000 miles a year is less environmentally damaging than replacing it with a new electric car (even though I fancy one) -it's certainly waaaay cheaper!

I love our low mileage 450 smarts, the original concept has been lost & needs rediscovering.

People who used to laugh at the mileage of the electric smart have since seen the light, small, adept, quite tardis like & can take the 6 footers.

Yes it's "crashy" on your spine over speedbumps, IF you cannot drive through the gap.

Folk may be interested in this 2021 vid from Engineering Explained. He crunched the numbers and suggested that for cars that get 40mpg or more, it's better to run them into the ground, for those getting less, it's better to switch to a BEV.

It's US based, so don't take the breakpoint as a fixed point, but does cover a multitude of variables to reach the conclusion. Also, grids continue to get cleaner every year, including those since the vid was posted.

Used to see that in Nigeria. It was pronounced as hammatamm which my brain converted to hammertime. Like a flour farina, it got into everything and coloured the clouds yellow. I didn't know it got as far as UK though, whereabouts are you? Just washed a load of pollen.off panels yesterday.

I felt sorry for the nsx as its brake discs were all rusty and check out the growth and debris build up on the n/s!

I've got a mate in Spain who restores classics, he is asking about it.
