Sentencing thoughts?

Any news worthy story. Good things to watch at the Cinema, Theatre, on TV or have you read a good book lately?

I was first going to say depends on how the incident occurred, i.e, was it an unforeseen accident as there was going to be a small chance of mechanical failure.

BUT,

The 19-year-old, from Lazonby, in Cumbria, was found to be over the legal driving limit for cocaine. The driver of a tractor seen crushing a car on CCTV has admitted careless driving and being unfit through drugs.

Even though no one was badly injured, I've seen the sentence and I'm aghast as well.

Didn’t know there was a cut off for the amount of coke you could do and then drive!

Amazed the driver of that car wasn't injured or killed. Looks like the tire completely flattens the roof of the car.

Heavy machinery.
Veered across lanes.
Coked up.
Destruction of properties (harvest ganger, car & tractor damage)
Affected farmers weather dependent work, finances & loss of vehicle (likely impounded, or damaged requiring recovery, mechanic in busiest season),
Nearly killed car driver (who must have ducked) ..would like to see the video with car occupants getting out as to what that involved.

19 year old twat.

This is a road we use ourselves.

Miraculous escape !

We have a lot of the new, very large, very fast tractors, pulling trailers as in the vid, passing the house daily.

The speed and size of them is scary - there does seem to be time constraints on the driver during any ‘harvesting’.

Given the width of some of the roads around us, I’m surprised there haven’t been more incidents.

Just say no. 👎

Had a few Offshore mates who liked Coke. Been in its presence twice on nights out in the Dam and Stavanger. I knocked back the offer and used the chance as an anthropological study.

They just spoke shite. I had my few beers 🍻 😎 and went back to hotel thinking wtf! 🤔

I have a friend who lives on a road used by tractors pulling loads of potatoes at the relevant time of year. When we stayed there I was astonished at the speed the fully laden tractors took the narrow roads, working 24hrs a day. Apparently within 60 miles of your farm you don't require a tacho and it is understood that 24hr shifts are common...

Big one for us is either grass or Maize - not sure if it goes for feed or to be used in a local bio digester/generator plant. With the maize, it’s chopped as it’s harvested - the whole plant being utilised.

Harvesting and transport, as you say, can take place 24 hours a day.

Makes life interesting if the A303 is closed - we’re on an alternative route.

303 is closed approx 4-5 times a year.

Possibly lucky that the tractor was not properly weighted at the front end, for the rear loading from the trailer.

I once drove about 20 miles - very slowly - with a heavy machine on the back of a tractor without adequate front end weights. Front wheels would lift off the road anything above about 6-7mph if going over a slight hump/bump in the road!
