At what point does one question that video. For me it has FF written all over it.
Yes there are fields of cars but i suspect that they are largely ICE cars brought on that by a certain date these cars cannot be sold and well before that date people are already switching. It has already been documented that there are too many of these cars and may have to be scrapped.
Near some collaberation before i buy the EV angle.
BYD produce c2Million/yr so if they were only 1% out with their sales target they would have more excess vehicles than that.
In the UK there are many retail busineses which operate on buying excess production and end of lines.

If you look for the film(s) mentioned the first one tackling the "bike piles" & take it from there, the cars in fields is a follow up by the same team plus extensive reportage posted within this thread.
I skim read the BYD wiki page, which made no clear mention of a car share brand they'd started / jumped into bed with, however the sheer volume incoming of byd vehicles to regular car hire (as we see it) is eyewatering, I wonder what deals have been struck there?

The labour market in China is vastly different and Cos are forced to employ workers so perhaps this is little different from our unemployment benefits.
The same happened in USSR - you could always buy 6" nails but not 1" because 6" make up the quota easier.
