UK grid battery pipeline

Just saw this on the Twitters.
The UK now has more than 2.4GW/2.6GWh of battery storage capacity.
It has a staggering 61.5GW in the pipeline, including 20GW with planning approval – of which 2.6GW is already being built.
That's a lot of storage already in construction or consented. That's impressive - especially with the planned grid reinforcements and all the HVDC interconnectors as well.

That's a good start.
Is there any performance data for the installed capacity?
These are no good if they only work half the time or stop working 5 years down the line OR become uneconomical to maintain (maybe they aren't even sustainable in the first place).
Other large battery projects have had significant issues with fires and sprinkler activations.

Are those figures for 'pure' storage facilities only?
Would they include EV charging stations with embedded battery storage? Eg Gridserve's Braintree's Electric Forecourt which has a 5MW battery (no separate GWh figure provided)

Both good questions, and I've not seen any data on either to be able to provide the answers.

There is a database but you have to pay for it.
https://marketresearch.solarmedia.co.uk ... se-report/
Its the same database from where the dan_b graph at the start of this thread originated from.
Another interesting one is here,
And another article (paywalled) from yesterday which seems to back up both graphs.
https://www.energy-storage.news/uk-roun ... ing-funds/
"The flurry of project news, alongside reports of a big fundraise by developer Field, comes as the UK’s operational capacity hits over 3GW/3.4GWh and another 2.8GW/4.9GWh under construction."
My own research has found that historically the grid sized utlity batteries were sized for 1 hour operation of full operational power. But more recently they are being sized for 2 hours of full operational power.

That's good news Dan. I know the UK seems to be topping the European charts for predicted storage rollout, which may reflect our hopes to generate and export a lot of off shore wind.
Hope I've got this right, it was a long time ago, but I believe National Grid suggested the UK would need about 20GW of storage to be net low carbon, I assume the number will need to rise, as leccy consumption rises in the future. I don't recall any energy figure, or breakdown for intraday v's longer term, just the power figure of ~20GW to keep things balanced/running.
I also assume this ties in with the ~20GW HVDC target for 2030, and us having ~20GW of CCGT to fall back on when needed.
