According to this evenings Inside science the 6 million Inhalers proscribed anally in the UK have the same carbon footprint as does 1.4 million passengers flying from London to New York .

I had to listen again to make sure that I had heard correctly

It’s certainly big numbers, although NICE have lower figures than on that podcast.
https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng80/r ... 6727144573

But if we accept the claim in the podcast, that 1 inhaler is like driving 175 miles and there are 6 million prescribed in UK per year. Thats over a billion driving miles, like 1,050,000,000. :?

London to New York is 3459 miles, so if you drove the equivalent miles, that would be 303,556 people (1 person per car) doing the single journey. But they are saying flying, so the only way their numbers of 1.48 million people would work is if flying is almost 5 times less harmful than driving.

It might have been better for them to stick with driving over a billion miles.

It's only 0.2% of the UK CO2e so probably not even worth the cost to switch the gas.
