I do enjoy the heat geek video's, as you say there's some contradictory stuff as he learns about things over a period of time but I tend to find he's very straight and honest about what he's done and what the outcomes are which is refreshing.

Another youtube channel to follow.

That he wears a baseball cap back-to-front is not too inspiring - especially when his fuel cell kit apparently does nothing with the carbon (which actually makes up 75% of the mass of the gas burned🙂).

‘Changing’ methane into pure hydrogen is downright akin to alchemy! Those fuel cells feed on methane.

His knowledge of burning methane for electricity for grid is downright farcical and totally misleading to anyone watching and believing his carp. A combined cycle gas plant produces around 400g/kWh, not anywhere near his claimed range of 500-900g/kWh. Edited to add that those figures do not include grid losses.

Coal fired generation is up towards 900-1000g/kWh, not CCGT generation. OCGT generation is now much like coal - only used when really, really needed. OCGT generation of CO2 will be about half again that of CCGTs - so 600-700g/kWh?

“No NOx, just clean water and only carbon” Who is he kidding? Leaving out the word “dioxide” is, in my view, almost criminal in the context of the video!

Exactly how much does this ‘ten year warranty’ cost? No mention of the servicing costs and no mention of the manufacturer’s name, either.🤨

Who is currently getting gas at 4p/kWh? Nobody, I would suggest - except perhaps for those few lucky people still on a long term fixed price contract for their energy.

His claim of 1.75kw output for 2kW input is actually 87.5% efficient. A fair way off his 92.5% claim (he’s just exaggerating, misleading with that - or he is a numpty at maths?

And I most certainly don’t need a 32kW gas boiler to heat my house!!! I wonder what efficiency that would be running at! A 3.2kW boiler would be more suitable for me. No mention of electricity consumption of the unit, so does some of that 750W electrical generation go towards running the whole caboodle? 13 showers - all at the same time? Many better showers are, what, 8 or 11kW these days?

DC battery? Now that is a new one (or at least the AC one is🙂).

I’m interested in the PCM storage - but only with a sensible pay-back.

Yes, an interesting video, but not at all useful, really (excepting that any and every system should be investigated, not taken as gospel from a salesperson).

I'm sure there's another video (several) where he has removed the hydrogen system and replaced it (I think in 8 hours) with an ASHP system - hes a prolific poster so its important to keep the data stamps in order to know what's new and what's old.

Haven't checked on the original video as I am snowed under with stuff today.

Desp's link is 2 days ago but the same technology display is here when it was first installed in the show room 2 years ago, I understand they are the UK installer for this tech so I presume the recent video is just covering that technology should anyone have the cash and the yearning for such a beast. Clearly the heat geek has decided its not suitable for him at home anymore and my dad always used to say that when dealing with the trades and unsure ask them what they have fitted at home because they usually have the best kit.

Anyway - back to the grindstone for me, but at least the time line is sorted on those videos and it makes more sense - hopefully.
