Balance the Grid game

Any news worthy story. Good things to watch at the Cinema, Theatre, on TV or have you read a good book lately?

Balance the Grid game

#1

Post by dan_b »

A little birdy tells me (ok, the National Grid account on the platform formerly known as Twitter) that from tomorrow 16th November, there will be a "Balance the Grid" game available to play on the National Grid ESO website.

Sounds fun - that's my day sorted!

Been busy but manage a total of 31,600 and concluded that I’m better driving a reactor than I am the national grid.

Partly I think the game needs more control as the ability to increase gas bio nuke and coal is instantaneous but the turn down is slower meaning you need to charge the batteries hydro or export which then sets you up for a fall when you lose prime mover generation.

Good fun tho

Just got my best score of 32,200 - it all got a bit sketchy when the interconnector went down and then the wind turbines stopped generating due to low wind speed, but just scraped through without crashing the grid!
