The company said Grangemouth had been facing significant challenges because of global market pressures.
Petroineos intends to turn the site into a fuels import terminal which would result in the loss of at least 400 jobs.
That's private business/capitalism for you. If there's no money in something it will be shut down. (see also British steelmaking)
Other countries' governments take a more strategic view when they are watching their economies...

Thought the Government might have learnt their lesson over energy and Gas after Ukraine invasion but seems they're happy to now be at the mercy of fuel imports too :surrender:

On the bright side aren't we supposed to be moving over to renewables, so perhaps HMG can claim it as a move in the right direction. :whistle:

The likely next government (Labour) and SNP do not want drilling for more oil in the North Sea so this feel like a pragmatic move guided by the political realities of net zero.

The guy that bought it/rescued it as a bargain basket case has queezed the pips and extracted value from it in the times of high prices and now folded it. A basket case is always so.
