Love this graph of UK electricity demand on a typical Wednesday vs last night's footie match.

Look at that 1GW pick-up at half time! The Brits and their kettles!

Looks like they might have been running it a little high in anticipation?

And the 1 GW uptick would have been even larger if the increasing number of us had not bothered to invest in home battery systems to cover those consumption peaks.

Not to mention the CO2 and pollution reduction as the towns and roads were deserted..

Mind you the lack of noticeable change during covid and the huge reductions in vehicles worldwide suggests the issues lie elsewhere.

They are expecting a 2GW spike for the final on Sunday.
