Any news worthy story. Good things to watch at the Cinema, Theatre, on TV or have you read a good book lately?

As Dan is off on a jaunt, I though I would post this bit of good news up.
The EGL2 HVDC link between Peterhead and Drax has now got all the relevant planning consents in place.

Nothing like a good stress test.

Hi Dan, just to say that I noticed OFGEM's list of interconnectors seems to have changed/updated. It now seems more reflective of the info you've been consistently reporting. I'm sure it previously had ~15GW+ by 2025(ish), now it's ~15GW- by 2030.

Existing and future interconnector projects
3.58kWp ESE PV + 2.0kWp WNW PV.
Two BEV's.
Two small A2A heatpumps.

Thanks Mart - yes the figures have been amended to reflect the longer timelines from various delayed and cancelled projects.

Might do a quick bit of HVDC update research, see if anything else is happening

Small update

The FABLink Interconnector which is going from France to Exeter and no longer via Alderney - they have been granted planning approval for the revised converter station plans - this was required to reduce visual impact on the local environment and the net result was also a reduction in transmission capacity from 1400 to 1250MW.

Not likely to be complete before 2030.

Update

Viking Link today (11th December) starts final commissioning tests with power flows in both directions starting at 10% of max capacity and steadily increasing during the test period. Aim is to be running at full capacity commercially by 29th December...

Whoever runs the Grid Energy Numbers website might want to add Denmark to the countries on the interconnectors segment pretty soon...
