I would suggest that the article is a little simplistic. My assumption is that wind in the lee of a turbine is more turbulent than that in front of it. And as we know, turbines like perfect laminar flow...

Graig Fatha had a 2% reduction taken off the P75 value for the share offer because it was at the far end of a long line of turbines up wind from it in the prevailing westerlies. But it does tend to out perform in an easterly as its the first in line.

From share offer doc,
"......... yield estimates include a 2% reduction applied by Ripple as a conservative measure to account for potential blockage and induction zone effects."

Interesting article.
Reminds me of that amazing photo of cloud formation in an offshore wind farm due to the pressure changes and the obvious wake formation
