This is now in service with a 3.6MWp wind turbine atop, in 200m depth of water off Norway. At first I had difficulty believing that the buoyancy of those tubes would be adequate.

My broadband is blocking that URL for security reasons! Is it legitimate?

It’s released by Stiesdal.com Dan and looks very legitimate.

Firefox and Avast allow it.
Looks good to me: fully re-useable - and then recyclable.
Pity they can't find a safe way of re-using oil rigs....

So its a tethered floating one for deep water areas.

Do we know whether the cost is similar to a conventional one in shallow water like the north sea ?

In a word no but that is what this prototype is about. Stiesdal’s early drawings for a floater have moved on. However, all the way he has tried to use off-the-shelf stock to keep down cost. The huge advantage of the floater is in being able to assemble on shore and tow onto site with a drawback of having to attach to the seabed in deep water.
France has been testing a floater for some time but it looks expensive when compared with this.

Isn't there a floating offshore wind farm around Scotland somewhere?
