Yet another solar shingle company comes to market and improves the ease of maintenance but they look like a pig’s ear.

This is another one of those “chocolate teapot” technologies that seem to get a lot of investment but never become a commercial success. Who are the people willing to invest millions in a product when ten other similar companies failed?

Interesting for the US market, but not elsewhere. There are vast numbers of shingle roofs replaced every year in the US (because shingles are rubbish, but...) and unlike Tesla, etc. this is pretty much a drop-in replacement from a supplier most of the roofers will already use. If you're a roofer that's got to be a pretty interesting opportunity to upsell a customer on a more expensive roof, which means higher margins for you.
Doesn't work well with tiles though - if you're doing that then something like GSE is the way to go.

Yep, in-roof trays look really good, are cheap, use commodity panels, and they last.

Well i understand the idea of replacing expensive roof cladding ideas for new build roofs and then place "traditional " panels on top , but there are alternatives for building a roof in a more cost efficient way ....
I have seen nice PV roofs with black framed PV-Panels , that looked sound to me , but to me aluminum colored ones look great too , or watt "s to complain about a roof that delivers electricity
