So this winter he switched it off and relied on several individual electric heaters, with lots of solar and Octopus Agile. He now has all the energy figures from September to February. Not only has it been cheaper but his family have actually preferred having modular, controllable heaters.

I'll watch the video in a bit.
I use 3x oil-filled rads instead of central heating during the Octopus Go Faster 0830-0030 5p/kWh cheap period. While in theory gas is cheaper per kWh I'm not convinced my boiler's real-world efficiency is anything like what the manufacturer claims. I'd like to install an air-to-air HP and maybe a SH or two this year.
I only have a small solar array, but in winter there aren't that many occasions where a bigger one would make much difference to space-heating. So I don't see how that is relevant. Also Agile never has delivered regular, reliable, cheap electric. There have been very rare headline-grabbing plunges but in the main Go and Go Faster have been the better choices.

Thank god for speedwatching slider! Nonetheless, good to see someone pushing a non FF free way of heating home especially in such a simple low cost equipment fashion.
