After spending so many years in the oil industry I thought I had a handle on levels of corruption. Turns out I had no clue. This is a literally stunning book. Picked it up for 50p Ballater last weekend at a village hall booksale. Highly recommended.

If you poke about into how much wealth is "stashed" off shore, in various guises ( Swiss accounts, freeports, laundered through property etc) it turns out there is more dirty money than clean
Our GOVT have been prevaricating about the bush for years in this regard,

At the other end of the scale I was subject to two years of intense scrutiny by HMRC because I made a balls up in my accounts, after a severe nerve wracking grilling they ended up owing me a couple of grand and a small compensation cos I swindled myself

Shame they don't chase Ollie Gark so much

Not Black catting you but i know how you feel. I had a 5 year investigation by HMRC which I eventually won against and got paid. Wasn't easy on the mind and it felt personal. They try and grind you down but didn't realise it was swmbo they were up against in the dealings!
