Good news for the people of Sunderland for sure.
There is a lot of detail not covered in the article - for example it doesn't mention that UK Government has pledged to invest an undisclosed sum into the new factory (rumoured to be as much as £500 million), but that also Nissan is not the company actually investing in the battery plant. That's a group called Envision AESC, who have also just announced a battery factory investment partnered with Renault in Douai, France...

Just business I suppose. Gotta have incentives, think back pre Brexit and Nissan were saying they'd pull out of uk if Brexit went ahead. I'm sure that was used as a lever by Nissan for this expansion.
