I think he did - he's in Forest Hill, and they do have other swifts nearby.
I'm in Norwich, and have heard them a lot recently, but don't know if they nest nearby.
I did hear that they can fly long distances for food, such that the ones over Norwich might be nesting many miles away (even London?!)

Going to extend this out to reptiles as well, we had a small common lizard on the patio last week, happily it was still skittering around when the boys came home from school so they were able to watch it for a while - we think we have a colony living in the front dry stone wall as we see them once or twice a year in warmer times. We also seem to be overrun with shield beetles and lily beetles this year.

Haven't seen a common lizard since I was in primary school. Not very common at all!
