Mycelium does anyone spawn their own?
Re: Mycelium does anyone spawn their own?
Coming along nicely there Billi, can you get some thermal mass around your WBS like JB has done to avoid needing an auxiliary heater ? Otherwise, and for another thread, what about a Nowty towers river bed inspired heat pump ?
Did you manage to knock up a test undershot water wheel yet or are you like me and constrained by having to work before you can do RE at home ?

Sorry have no idea how to respond now
And sure i will focus on a PV -Hydro off grid farmhouse once it is mine , for the time beeing i do not spent fast amounts
I can go el. off grid here but not allowed to own a house with out a monthly bin collection contract .... so some other questions for me too to think about
Re: Mycelium does anyone spawn their own?
Sorry Billi
the thermal mass I was thinking of can be temporary but I understand if you’re not wanting to do things of that nature on a rental property.
No slight was intended.

Re: Mycelium does anyone spawn their own?
not to worry Moxi , its just another project , and i will need some time to get my conclusions to work towards what will make sense
As insulate , insulate , Insulate wont make sense here as i cannot insulate under the floor, as i will hit floodland /wetland at 10 degrees cold water running under the floor , sure i can insert a membrane into the walls but ...
But thats not the right place here as we talk about mushroom farming .... for me upstairs in the first floor ( that will be my option of living-space to consider )

Hi Billi,
Very nice, they are a nice tasty mushroom aren't they, apt to me a bit chewy if left too long or too much of the stem is taken but the flavour is excellent.
I've brought my bucket indoors to warm up and will have a look to see if theres any mycelium bloom and if not i will break out my two year old spawn and re-seed.

Re: Mycelium does anyone spawn their own?
Hi Moxi
Was a pleasure to cook and taste , whole kitchen had a smell of fresh woodland
Yeah true they are slightly chewy , but that can be an advantage too
My growing conditions are far from optimal in that wood stove room , where humidity drops too much when fire burning
But still am surprised how easy it works , i guess the important water humidifier inside would be ideal for indoor growing in winter and take it outside in summer .....
Well , will see to what extend , i will carry on
The other type -Golden oyster mushroom (Pleurotus citrinopileatus)- now is popping out of the bucket .....
