I don't know about lifting part of the plant, I am leaving it in as long as possible.Moxi wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 11:35 am It certainly does look good! Am I right to think that this a plant that you can lift and remove a section of the rhizome before popping the rest of the plant back in to the earth to continue to grow?
Has your ginger been attacked by lily beetles? some of the leaves look to have their hallmark damage characteristics.

The leaves are damaged because I left the ginger in the watery container too long and the end of the shoot got trapped in the cling film, so the leaves did not unwrap themselves properly.
I think I planted it out too late this year, next year I will put the ginger in the watery container around Feb and plant out late April / early May. Its in a nice sheltered South facing aspect which shades mid afternoon from a garden fence.
