Integration of different data sets

#1

Post by Djs63 »

Hi, does anyone have knowledge of a system which can integrate PV, wind outputs and heat pump usage please?

I’m using pen and paper intermittently at present and could do a lot better! :head-bang:
Proven 6 kWh max turbine, PV 8 KW solar hot water (15 evacuated tubes). Kia eNiro and MG Z5 EV, triple glazing, ground source heat pump and wood stove , Solax PV 5.8 kWp and 17 kWh lithium battery, 5600 litres rainwater storage

What type of integration are you hoping to achieve?
3.87kWp PV
10.24kWp PV SolarEdge system
Tesla Powerwall 2
100 x 47mm Navitron tubes (still being installed!) Now likely to be removed for more PV.
MK2 PV router DHW diverter
Morso 5kW WBS
Vaillant AroTherm 10kW ASHP
Nissan Leaf

Excel?

Home assistant is good for this kind of thing if you want it automated.
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

Hi at present the interpretation of 2 sets of PV data (SOLAX & SMA) and wind (SMA) is only done on paper because all the systems have different apps so it would good to have the data in one “place”.
In addition the electrical energy used by the heat pump is displayed on yet another app (SMART LIFE).
Hey ho, I dream of having all the simultaneous data in place. Thanks for the ideas so far.

Home assistant is what you need. Its made for bringing together systems/apps/manufacturers data of all kinds in one place.

Here the screenshot of all the different integrations I've got which bring data into Home Assistant and then is used in various ways to interact and control each other.

That's a lot of apps. RP4? Or something beefier?
Solar PV: 6.4kW solar PV (Eurener MEPV 400W*16)
PV Inverter: Solis 6kW inverter
Batteries: 14.4kWh LiFePO4 batteries (Pylontech US5000*3)
Battery Inverter: LuxPowertek 3600 ACS*2
EV: Hyundai Kona 65kWh
WBS: 8kW Hunter Avalon 6 Multifuel burner (wood only)

A Dell Optiplex from eBay for 100quid, specs are:-

Dell OptiPlex 3060 Micro PC 8th Gen i5 8GB RAM 256GB M.2 SSD Win 11 PSU

Plenty of grunt for just HA, but needed with all I've got loaded and Frigate doing some object detection.

Not very efficient use of space or power vs a pi!

Space, as in disk size?

And power? Ive got 9 cameras in total and 6 with object detection going through Frigate in HA. Previously with a HP T530 where cpu used was pegged at at least 80% bogging HA down when doing other things and browsing history etc, it's now less than 30%. I didn't think a RPi 4 had a quicker processor then an i5 8th gen? Or were you taking about power consumption?

And price, add an ssd to an 8gb rpi4 and then psu/enclosure, not sure it's any less than £100 is it?

You'd be surprised at the idle power consumption of an optiplex micro. I used to have one with an i7500 that idled at about 10-12w.

That was running a lot more software than my old raspberry pi 4, so meant I could actually consolidate several devices into one. Total power consumption went down, yet I had more performance on tap.
