Remote temp monitoring

Post by ecogeorge »

Love data , no not geeky ..................
Monitor pv generation and electricity impot via shelly.
Monitor and can control home heating via wifi radiator thermostats (Kasa)
Gas boiler (old ((23yrs -will not be replaced )) controlled via smart switch (TP link -off/on ) ) ..........today fitted pump to primary circuit on a thermostat to heat water on timeclock if not sufficient diverted electric...
But although can automate this via App =timed on/off and will modify boiler to not fire if DHW satisfied through surplus electric I would love to remotely view DHW cylinder temp ......
Any ideas how i can do this....

Depends on how remote, but you could try a Raspberry Pi Pico W with some DS18B20s. The Pico could either act as a simple web server, and/or send the data to a server to record it centrally.

Totally confused now , was hoping that i wired it up and via the app it woukd work BUT what is a Shelly Plus add on ?? seems it need to connect to a Shelly Plus ???? is this what i have monitoring my grid import and solar generation ??

Never dealt with Shelly devices before, but it certainly looks like you will need a Shellt Plus device to power the Add-on. At least if you need to you should be able to attach several DS18B20s. Note that you can normally atach DS18b20s to cat5/cat6 if you need them afurther from the Shelly Addon than the cable they come with, but try to avoid a star configuration, better wih a longer legth with multiple DS units attached individually along.
