I try to avoid all cloud based stuff but its not easy. Some of it I do through the router settings and also by setting up a separate network (but still using the same cables) that has no internet connection- mainly for the cameras.
Some scams are not easy to spot- the worst one being regarding a car accident we had where they knew all the details of the accident. Thankfully my morals of not claiming for personal injury when we hadn't suffered any saved us from that one. After the first one like that I realised it was a scam, very convincing though. Most calls now I just tell them to "**** off" straight away and tell them they are the scum of the earth and how can they live like that. It's very rare I get any scam calls now.

Lucky I was able to spot that IN HOUSE, KENNEL CLUB scam, ...they kept quiet about that considering it was a wide scale fraud operation & data breach, & involved the police.
